CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Fire Department has extinguished a barn fire that broke out early Saturday morning (Aug. 20) near the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Greendale.

On August 20, at approximately 12:45 a.m., the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in a barn in the 5200 block of Sumas Prairie Rd.

According to a statement from Andy Brown, assistant fire chief of training and operations for the Chilliwack Fire Department, fire crews confirmed on arrival there was a fully involved barn fire. Initial arriving crews upgraded the call to a 2nd alarm and 28 firefighters responded from Halls 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.
