IIO searches for witnesses to double fatal crash in Abbotsford

CHILLIWACK — B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is asking for witnesses and video of a police pursuit earlier this month in Abbotsford. The pursuit ended with a crash and the deaths of two people.
Abbotsford police attempted to stop a stolen white 1991 Acura Integra around 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 7. The car went off the road on Maclure Road near Clearbrook Road and collided with a tree.
RCMP confirmed the car was connected to the discovery of human remains found in a burned-out vehicle in Summerland a day earlier.
The IIO is asking anyone with information or dashcam or other video footage of the pursuit or crash to contact the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477 or through a contact form on the IIO website.
