Online auction begins for Chilliwack charity that helps older adults, seniors find meaningful community connections

CHILLIWACK — Think of it like Facebook’s 24-hour bidding platform with potential bargains galore, but for an even better cause supporting older adults in Chilliwack.

An online auction designed to raise funds to support Chilliwack seniors and link them with meaningful community connections launched today.

Chilliwack-based Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society (CNHPS) announced that its first annual online auction will go from today (Jul. 30) until this Friday, August 5 at 6 p.m.

Auction items include portable BBQs, fold-up chairs, outdoor gear, outdoor blankets, Bluetooth speakers, canteens, pickleball sets, casserole dishes, and portable stoves, just to name a few.

There is an Auctria mobile bidding app (available on the Google Play Store as well as on the Apple Store) for those who prefer using their cell phone to their computers.

CNHPS is a registered charitable society consisting of trained volunteers who provide a variety of support services for older adults in Chilliwack. All services are provided free of charge as it promotes the physical, spiritual, and psychosocial well-being of older adult neighbours living with advanced chronic conditions through neighbourhood activation.

CNHPS has a dedicated roster of involved volunteers and members and features programs like the Seniors Connect Cafe, intergenerational activities that connect seniors with high school students, peer facilitator engagement, and a family caregiver support group, among others.

The non-profit charity has set a goal of $3,500 for the auction.
