Abbotsford Police, IHIT investigate death of 45-year-old female; suspect taken into custody

ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are investigating the death of a 45-year-old female that happened sometime Thursday (Jul. 28) afternoon in central Abbotsford.

Police responded Thursday at 4:44 p.m. to a report of an assault in progress at a residence in the 2900 block of Eastview Street, just east of the Clearbrook area of town.

On arrival, Abbotsford Police members located a 45-year-old female suffering from life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the female succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

While police acknowledged Thursday they are in the preliminary stage of the investigation, a 48-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and is known to the victim. He remains in police custody.

Abbotsford Police have transitioned this investigation to IHIT.

Sgt. Paul Walker, spokesperson for Abbotsford Police, advised Thursday the public is not at risk, as the incident occurred between parties known to each other.
