CHILLIWACK – Chilliwack has a new radio station on a pretty special occasion.

89.5 JR Country is celebrating Canada Day with its arrival in Chilliwack. It replaces The Drive FM on local radio dials.

Longtime radio DJ Glen Slingerland will continue broadcasting his signature morning show, followed by fresh new voices Kristen Jade hosting “JR at Work” and “Country Nights” with Logan. John Vosper remains at the helm of the afternoon show.

“Chilliwack is the heartbeat of the Fraser Valley, and now it has a radio station that matches it beat for beat,” said Russell James, 89.5 JR Country Program Director.

Listeners can hear everything from country legends such as Kenny Rogers and Garth Brooks, to contemporary artists from Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Keith Urban, and Lady A.

JR Country Music Director and BC Country Music Association award winner Jaxon Hawks says Flashback Fridays and listener participation will become a staple of the new radio station.

“As a JR Family member, you’ll get a vote in the music we play,” Hawks said. “Every weekday, I’ll play a new song on ‘Hot or Not’ and you can tell if we should get it onto our playlist.”
