Chilliwack motorists should expect congestion, delays as Vedder Road gets fixed starting today

CHILLIWACK/SARDIS – Motorists travelling in Sardis can expect delays on one of Chilliwack’s busiest roads as daytime and nighttime paving gets underway today along Vedder Road.

The City of Chilliwack says daytime and nighttime paving on Vedder Road from Knight Road to Alder Avenue will begin Tuesday, July 21, and last until Friday, August 7.

Vedder Road at Alder Avenue. Road paving begins today (July 21) and will go from Vedder Road/Alder up to Vedder Road and Knight Road.

The city says motorists should anticipate lane closures, delays and congestion, and obey the direction of traffic control personnel.

One lane will be closed at a time, while the middle lane will remain open.

All lanes on Vedder Road from Knight Road to Alder Avenue will be paved, the city notes. Once paved, new line markings will be painted on the road.

The city says six roads are scheduled to be paved between August and October, including:

McSween Road – Bell Road to Ballam Road
Annis Road – Chilliwack Central Road to Yale Road
Yale Road – Menzies Street to Windsor Street
Ryder Lake Road – Ross Road to Extrom Road
Giesbrecht Road – Vedder Mountain Road to Dike North of Duncan Road
Blackburn Road – Sinclair Road to South Sumas Road

The city says it has paved parts of McMillan Road, Mercer Road and Valleyview Road in 2026.
