LANGLEY – Mounties in Langley have now confirmed that human remains were found along a creek bed in Langley this past weekend.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Langley RCMP received a report Sunday afternoon, May 17 at approximately 3:52 p.m., that a member of the public believed they had discovered human remains in a creek bed near the Nicomekl River, close to 53A Avenue and 206 Street in Langley.

Sgt. Sharoom says frontline officers attended the location and found the human remains, and promptly notified the BC Coroners Service, which has since confirmed that the remains are human.

“At this time, the identity of the individual is unknown due to the condition of the remains and exposure to the elements,” said Constable Meghan Marsden with Langley RCMP. “Our investigators are working in close partnership with the BC Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.”
