CHILLIWACK — Three men are now facing charges after a fatal shooting in Chilliwack earlier this week.

On Sunday, February 15, at about 8:40 a.m., RCMP responded to the shooting at a home on Mellard Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds inside.

One of them, 48-year-old Kristopher Benson, died on scene. The other was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Between Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team worked with the Lower Mainland emergency response teams to arrest three men in Chilliwack and Abbotsford.

The BC Prosecution Service has since approved one count of second-degree murder against 50-year-old Jason Himpfen, 34-year-old Zoltan Losier and 40-year-old Christopher Meischl for Benson’s death.

They each have also been charged with one count of attempted murder in relation to the second victim.

“This was a fast-paced investigation and some sleepless nights for our investigators,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.

“The team worked tirelessly to follow up on the evidence as the case unfolded, which led to the prompt laying of charges. We would like to thank our policing partners who supported us over the past several days to effect the swift and safe arrests of the individuals involved.”
