Excavator called in for fully involved structure fire Tuesday night near Popkum

POPKUM — Popkum and Agassiz firefighters were called to a structure fire that erupted at a residential duplex Tuesday night (Dec. 16) near Popkum.

According to a statement from Fraser Valley Regional District spokesperson Samantha Piper, Popkum firefighters were first paged out at approximately 9:45 p.m. to a fully involved structure fire on Alexis Crescent.

Agassiz fire crews were called for mutual aid and responded with 11 members.

Popkum Fire enlisted the help of 24 of its members to attack the structure fire, Piper said.

An excavator was called in for overhaul and to address the collapsed hazards.
